In early time, Abs Development Organization has realized the importance and role of Yemeni women in life and development as the essential members in the progress of families and communities, as well as in development of economy and in decision making. So, the work of Abs Development Organization became in the context of opportunities and challenges, as well as, it went towards a lot of objectives. The most critical one is to achieve equity in targeting at all levels. One of these levels is gender level in support to the National Strategy of the Government for the Development of Women.
Abs Development Organization was one of the prominent national institutions that put the issue of gender in interest. So, in spite of social restrictions and difficulties, which faced by Abs Development Organization, in relation to the services provided by women and restrict their role in participating in certain jobs and professions, as well as limited women's participation in the decision making positions in public life, Abs Development Organization placed a special strategy to ensure the achievement of participating in planning and implementation, as well as the equality in utilization in relation to gender issues. It also developed a data base on effective strategies for integrating gender issues in the development process, so, it allotted a lot of procedures, requirements and indicators. This contributed in increasing the proportion of women's access to basic services, such as education and health, and, noticeably, to economic opportunities. The table of indicators, relating to the performance of gender in each sector in this report, illustrates increasing in meeting the needs of women in all sectors by Abs Development Organization for Woman andChild.
Due to education is being a key pillar for the overall development, Abs Development Organization has paid great attention to education programs. So, it took notice on girls' education, especially in rural areas, where the third phase has achieved a rise in the enrollment of girls and boys between 6-14 years to an overall average of 17% during the year 2012. Education Programs have focused on raising the rates of girls' enrollment in schools. Besides, they have concentrated in strengthening the capacities of women in life skills through adult education and literacy in order to agree with social, economicand
cognitive improvement of women's reality. While Classrooms' Construction and Renovation Projects have targeted 55 literacy centers during 2014, females' advantages of them were 100%.
Increasing enrolment of girls to school can also be attributed to other indirect interventions, such as building of water reservoirs in BaniAdabi. These reservoirs have worked to bridge the gap in women's access to water resources and reduce the time fetching water, so this eased the household chores on girls and women, and gave them opportunities to access to education.
