In the heart of Hajjah governorate, 1996 was a transformative chapter for the communities of Abs district. Through two pivotal projects – the Literacy and Life Skills Project and the Women’s Literacy Project – we ignited a passion for learning and empowering the local population, creating waves of change that still reverberate today.
The Literacy and Life Skills Project was designed to break down barriers to education, equipping 1750 individuals with basic reading and life skills. In a region where literacy can open doors to opportunity, this initiative was a beacon of hope. Our dedicated teachers engaged community members and fostered an environment where learning was not only available, but also celebrated. Of those reached, 700 women and 1,050 men found the tools they needed to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
