As part of our ongoing efforts to uplift communities in Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, we launched a series of impactful projects focusing on education, protection, health, and livelihoods.

Among these initiatives, the Child Club Project stands out, bringing together 1,750 children, with equal participation from boys and girls, to create a safe and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and develop essential life skills.

Child Club Project (Local Council)/Abs (1997):

Our efforts to uplift communities in Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, reached new heights through a series of impactful projects.

Focusing on education, protection, health, and livelihoods, we aimed to address the diverse needs of the community and empower its members to build a brighter future.
The Child Club Project brought together 1,750 children, with equal participation from 875 boys and 875 girls.

This initiative created a safe and engaging environment where children could learn, play, and develop essential life skills.

The child’s club fostered creativity and teamwork, enabling children to succeed despite the challenges they faced. Art and creativity workshops, where children learn to express their thoughts and feelings through drawing, music, and crafts.

Group games and interactive challenges aim to teach children to work as a team and appreciate the efforts of others.
Awareness sessions on life skills, such as personal hygiene, health care, and constructive problem-solving.
Contests and recreational activities that encourage a spirit of positive competition and help build their personalities.
Skill-based enrichment classes in calligraphy, Arabic, and English.
Recreational trips.
The Kids Club contributed to supporting the children’s psychological and social development and provided them with the opportunity to meet new friends from different backgrounds.

The children demonstrated significant improvements in their communication skills, increased self-confidence, and better preparedness to deal with daily challenges.

Furthermore, the club fostered the values ​​of cooperation and mutual respect, which positively impacted their lives within the community.

A brief summary of the organization’s projects and initiatives is summarized as follows:

Gender-Based Violence Awareness Project (Intersos and UNFPA)/Hajjah (2014):

In partnership with Intersos and UNFPA, Abs Organization sought to change some of the customs, traditions, and misconceptions held by many families through effective equality between men and women.

And to raise awareness of how to ensure the dignity of girls within families and communities.

The organization conducted several seminars on gender-based violence against women and children, with 1,137 beneficiaries:

A discussion session on the dangers of sexual intercourse.

A discussion session on female genital mutilation.

A discussion session on domestic violence.

A seminar on women’s deprivation of inheritance.

Providing psychological and social support to 490 survivors of gender-based violence.

Training 77 beneficiaries in sewing to address difficult economic conditions.

Implementing the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign.

Holding 11 awareness-raising sessions on the phenomenon of violence against women, benefiting 1,137 beneficiaries.

Conducting 17 child protection monitoring surveys, and assisting two cases with eye surgery.

Providing support to 72 cases exposed to various forms of violence and early marriage.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (NEAR) Project/Raymah, Hodeidah, Mokha, and Sana’a (2022):

Holding 5 awareness-raising sessions on gender-based violence.

158 beneficiaries benefited from the awareness-raising sessions.

Providing in-kind assistance to 8 survivors of gender-based violence.

Providing operating expenses to Al-Shafqa Foundation, benefiting 150 beneficiaries.

Reducing Disease, Violence, and Abuse through Systematic Empowerment (RISE) (FCDO) Project/Hodeidah, Raymah, and Sana’a (2023 and 2024):

151 women benefited from women’s protection services.

80 children benefited from child protection services.

 

16 Days of Activism Against -BGenderased Violence (NEAR)/Rimah, Hodeidah, Mokha and Sana’a (2022):

Conducted 5 awareness sessions on gender-based violence.

158 beneficiaries benefited from the awareness sessions.

Providing in-kind assistance to 8 survivors of gender-based violence.

Providing operational expenses for the Compassion Foundation to benefit 150 beneficiaries.
